Update: Splashifax will not be setting up in Lower Sackville after all and are looking at alternative sites, including Lake Echo. No possible launch date has been announced.
This summer you may see something new on First Lake in Lower Sackville. A 50′ inflatable unicorn. Psst…it’s actually taller than any building in Lower Sackville! That’s right, the Halifax area will have somewhere new to cool off this summer.
Splashifax is currently in the process of setting up a floating water park filled with slides, docks, obstacles, and bouncy things. Permits are currently pending but if all goes to plan they’ll be open mid-June until September, 7 days a week.
This is definitely going to be one of Atlantic Canada’s premier summer attractions!

The current plan will be to sell tickets online (cost is yet unknown) for a designated time slot. There will be six 90min time slots each day between 10am and 8pm. Splashifax will be allowing 50 people at a time with a 10 minute transition time between groups.
If you plan to visit, parking will be at the Sackville Arena with a designated area for ticket sales, lifejacket pickup, a few changing stalls, and cubbies to store personal effects (though leave your valuables locked in your car). A hot dog and lemonade stand will operate on site for a quick lunch and you can also use one of the twenty picnic tables on site if you want to pack your own lunch.
Guests will then access the water park itself via a 130′ floating dock to deeper water. A floating perimeter will ensure that motor boats keep their distance from the park. The water playground will be welcoming anyone 6+ with those under 12 requiring adult supervision. Life jackets must be worn and will be provided.
For those wondering, inflatables are filled once at the beginning of the summer and then sealed so there is no continuous blower noise unlike bouncy castles. There is also no music played at Splashifax but you can expect the air to be filled with joyous shouts of laughter.
Splashifax’s launch comes at the perfect time. With the vaccine roll-out speeding up and Nova Scotians craving some outdoor fun, they’re ready to offer a safe, sunny, summertime experience.
