Ever get a craving for a burger bigger than your head? If you’re in central Newfoundland, you’re in luck!
Luke’s Gourmet Poutinerie in Grand Falls, NL made news in 2019, ibut t wasn’t for their poutine.
Instead, they made headlines for their monster burgers. The “Mudder Trucker” is the more modest burger, clocking in at 8″ across. If that wasn’t enough, the “Frankensteiner” is served up on a bun that’s a full foot across and weighs between 5 and 7 pounds.
Where does one get 12″ burger buns anyway? They need to be custom-ordered from West Tower Bakery in Gambo.
Cliff Foss opened the food truck, named after his son, in 2018 and business has been booming, thanks in no small part to his photo op burgers. You might wonder how many people would be interested in chowing down on a multi-pound hamburger, and the answer is a lot! The Luke’s team take a photo of everyone who orders their giant creations and post it to their Facebook page, where there are now over a thousand uploads. They figure they send over 250 burgers/week through the food truck window.
These are truly epic burgers. Cliff is so sure that you can’t finish the Frankensteiner in one sitting that he’s putting his money where his mouth is. The burger is $29.95 but if you can polish it off under Cliff’s watchful eye, not only will you get your money back but he’ll also hand you a $50 bill from his own pocket.
Unless you’re a professional competition eater, we’d instead suggest you grab a few friends and split a burger at Luke’s next time you’re near Grand Falls-Windsor.
