Have you ever wanted to sleep in a raindrop in the woods?

Starting this spring, you can!

Kejimkujik National Park in Nova Scotia is adding five Ôasis pods to their collection of unique camping experiences to go along with their oTENTiks, cabins, and yurts. They’re a bit like a tent, a bit like a pop-up trailer, and a unique experience unto themselves.

They’re joining other Atlantic Canadian national parks like Terra Nova and Fundy in offering this different take on camping. The 6m2 pods are teardrop shaped and feature a convertible table/sleeping pad and a convertible hammock loft accessible via a ladder where you can store your gear or create a sleeping space for little ones.

While one side of the pod looks like some type of lunar lander, the other size features large windows so you can really get a bird’s eye view of your surroundings.

Kejimkujik’s five Ôasis units are located at Jim Charles Point. Each unit can accommodate two adults and up to two children. The maximum weight capacity for the hammock loft is 160 kg.

Your Oasis pod doesn’t come with many amenities so you’ll need to bring all of your camping gear like sleeping bags, pillows, personal items, and cooking equipment.

While we haven’t seen exact pricing for the Oasis pods at Kejimkujik, the same units at Terra Nova National Park are listed at $122/night so expect a similar range.

Note: The Ôasis are not accessible for wheelchair users.

Reservations for camping in Parks Canada’s administered sites will open in April, instead of January this year, offering visitors more time to consider the latest COVID-19 measures. Kejimkujik reservations will open April 23, 2021, at 8: a.m. online at www.reservation.pc.gc.ca or by phone at 1-888-737-3783.

The park recommends that visitors plan ahead with its Camping during COVID-19 web page to check what services will be available.
